Ganz besonders dann, wenn sie im krassen Gegensatz zur Landschaft stehen, also hoch \u00fcber W\u00e4lder, Berge und T\u00e4ler hinweg f\u00fchren oder St\u00e4dte und D\u00f6rfer \u00fcberragen. Denn anders als ebenfalls deplatziert wirkende Hochh\u00e4user oder Gewerbehallen dienen die Br\u00fccken meist Autofahrern blo\u00df zum schnelleren Vorankommen &#8211; sie verweilen selbst nicht vor Ort und m\u00fcssen sich dementsprechend auch nicht mit der von ihnen genutzten Architektur arrangieren w\u00e4hrend sich f\u00fcr die Menschen, die dort leben, das Landschaftsbild radikal ver\u00e4ndert. Und in d\u00fcnn oder gar nicht besiedelten Regionen sind Br\u00fccken und Autobahnen ohnehin Fremdk\u00f6rper in der Landschaft &#8211; nur mit dem Unterschied, dass wir sie dort nur sehr selten wahrnehmen geschweige den betrachten, weil wir uns dort meist auf ihnen befinden.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sue Barr<\/strong> ist Professorin f\u00fcr Fotografie an der Architectural Association in London und besch\u00e4ftigt sich seit Jahren mit brutalistischer Architektur. Sie hat die italienische Autostrada zwischen den Alpen und Neapel mit ihrer Gro\u00dfformatkamera fotografiert und dabei Perspektiven eingenommen, die den meisten von uns verborgen bleiben: Ganz im Sinne der <strong>New Topographic<\/strong>-Bewegung zeigt sie uns die Stra\u00dfen und Br\u00fccken innerhalb einer durch den Menschen ver\u00e4nderten Landschaft. Ihre Bilder sind voller Sch\u00f6nheit und H\u00e4sslichkeit, Eleganz und Brutalit\u00e4t zugleich, doch wie so oft ist es genau diese Ambivalenz, die die Spannung erzeugt. Unterstrichen wird es zudem dadurch, dass die italienischen Autobahnen so gebaut wurden, dass sie jedes Hindernis mehr oder weniger ignorieren, was vor allem in den St\u00e4dten zu spektakul\u00e4ren Baus\u00fcnden gef\u00fchrt hat, \u00fcber die man nur verzweifelt den Kopf sch\u00fctteln mag.<\/p>\n<p>Sue Barrs Projekt &#8222;The Architecture of Transit&#8220; ist k\u00fcrzlich als Buch im Verlag <strong>Hartmann Books<\/strong> erschienen.
